Khawalissa Drag Cabaret Belly Dance
Having been born in the east, Well I think it’s fair to say Boscombe counts as the east as it is east of Bournemouth Square, I just had to take to the exotic world of Belly Dance. I fell in love with the dance at an early age through films and a love for beautiful women. Then found out the Egyptian dance is based on Balidi and is the dance of men, women and children. I soon found a magic teacher in Sandra Thiabult, and eventually learned the male dance Saaidi from Egyptian percussionist Hossam Ramzy. In 2003 Hossam invited me to tour with his troupe, opening in Manchester University, Norwich, London then off over the water to Holland and Germany. I had already developed my own male cabaret belly dance style, and found myself dancing all over the place, and even teaching ladies, at leisure centres and my own classes. Through a combination of dance skills and a passionate envy of the ladies in their beautiful costumes, I just had to take to the floor in drag, and Bournemouth drag cabaret belly dancer, Khawalissa was born to bring the south coast drag cabaret belly dance. |
